CBI Academy

VISION

Excellence in training in the fields of crime investigation, prosecution and vigilance.

MISSION

To train the human resources of CBI, State Police and Vigilance Organisations to become professional, industrious, impartial, upright and dedicated to the service of the nation.



CBI Academy is situated in Ghaziabad district of state of Uttar Pradesh, and is approx. 38km. from New Delhi Railway Station and 53km. from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is spread over 42 acres of lush green landscape and comprises of Administrative Block, Academic Block, Hostels, Sports Complex, Swimming Pool, Incubation Centre and Residential Blocks.

Foundation stone of the CBI Academy was laid on 29th October 1992 by Smt. Margaret Alva, the then Union Minister of State (Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions). Academy was inaugurated on January 10, 1996 by late P.V. Narasimha Rao, the then Prime Minister of India.

CBI’s training setup was further augmented with the establishment of three Regional Training Centers (RTCs) at Kolkata, Chennai & Mumbai. These RTCs equipped with modern training aids, seek to maximise the training output in a cost effective manner by utilizing local expertise and resources.

CBI Academy is the focal point of all training activities within CBI and is responsible for formulation of training policy, identification of training requirements, preparation of training calendar, nomination and confirmation of trainee participants, conduct of training programs and collaboration with other national and international training institutions. Over the years, it has emerged as an eminent central training institution not only in India but also in South Asia.

The institutional training to CBI Officers is imparted at the Academy through Basic, In-service and International courses. It is further supplemented by regular trainings at 03 Regional Training Centres (RTCs) at Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Besides, CBI officers are also sent for specialised trainings at reputed institutions in India and abroad. Various foreign police and Law Enforcement Officers are also imparted domain specific training in identified areas.

The Academy organizes following categories of phygital (Physical + Digital) courses for officers of CBI, National Investigation Agency (NIA), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), other Law Enforcement Agencies, Foreign Officers, State Police, State Anti-Corruption Bureaux, Vigilance Wings of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), Public Sector Banks (PSBs) & Government Departments:

A. Basic Courses


• Basic course for Sub-Inspectors.
• Basic course for Law Officers & Ministerial cadre.
• Orientation course for SP to Joint Director joining CBI on deputation
• Induction Course for Dy.SP, Inspectors & other officers joining CBI on deputation.

B. In-Service Courses


• Courses on investigation of Anti-Corruption cases, Economic Offences, Bank Frauds, Cybercrimes & Forensics, Special Crimes (conventional crimes) and Organised Crimes.
• Courses on Prosecution and Criminal trial.
• Courses on Investigation Abroad.
• Courses on surveillance operations and discrete verification.
• Vertical Interaction Courses (VIC) sponsored by BPR&D.
• Vigilance courses sponsored by Central Vigilance Commission.
• Courses on Departmental Enquiry and other establishment related matters.
• Capacity building courses for subordinate ranks.
• Pre-promotional courses for ministerial staff.

C. International Courses


• Specialized courses for foreign officers through INTERPOL Global Academy Network.
• Courses sponsored by Ministry of External Affairs.
• Advanced courses in collaboration with foreign police & law enforcement agencies.

D. Learning Management System


CBI Academy has its own in-house Learning Management System (LMS) having domain specific e-learning courses which are accessible only by CBI Officers.
The CBI Academy is headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training), who is assisted by:

• Superintendent of Police (Basic Course)

• Superintendent of Police (In-service Course)

Capacity Building Commission Accreditation

First Central Training Institution (CTI) in the country to be accredited on 11.04.2023 under Capacity Building Commission’s National Standards as assessed by National Accreditation Board of Education and Training (NABET).

CBI Academy was accredited as ‘अति उत्तम’.

Award of the “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Police Training for the year 2021-22”

Sh. Mukesh Kumar, Dy.SP and Sh. Mahesh Chandra Yadav, PC, both faculty members in CBI Academy have been awarded “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Police Training for the year 2021-22”.

DSCI Excellence Award for Capacity Building 2015

CBI Academy was adjudged winner of DSCI Excellence Award for excellence in capacity building of Law Enforcement Agencies during DSCI-NASSCOM Annual Information Security Summit 2015.

CBI Academy, Ghaziabad joined the INTERPOL Global Academy Network through a signing ceremony between CBI, New Delhi and INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation at Singapore.

INTERPOL Global Academy Network launched in 2019, has members in all regions and supports academic collaboration amongst Law Enforcement Training Institutions across the globe.

CBI Academy became the 10th Member of INTERPOL Global Academy Network. It is a step towards CBI Academy’s growing engagement with International Law Enforcement Institutions enabling effective capacity building and innovation activities. The cooperation between CBI Academy and INTERPOL has a tremendous potential to enhance policing outcomes in India and across the world.
